Merstone Special School

Merstone School is a special School for pupils with severe and complex learning disabilities aged 5 – 19 years. The school also has an Early Years assessment unit for children aged 2 – 5.

Merstone transferred to its new purpose built site in the summer of 2006 and provides excellent facilities for the pupils. The school is co-located with a mainstream secondary school and another special school for pupils with moderate learning disabilities.

This is an outstanding school. Parents and carers say it is an ‘amazing school’ with ‘fantastic’ staff and pupils agree. They say that ‘everyone is kind here’ and ‘helps you’. Staff, the governing body and pupils are extremely proud to be part of the school and of the ways in which it fosters pupils’ all-round development and nurtures their self-awareness and talents” (Ofsted June 2011)
